In England there are families originating in (at least in the timescales I have found so far) Lincolnshire, Gloucestershire/London/Hertfordshire, Kent, Essex and South Wales.
There are one or two families in Scotland, Ireland, and the Channel Islands.
Some of these, notably from Essex and Lincolnshire have emigrated to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and other parts.
My family originates from Nettleham in Lincolnshire and the earliest document seen so far for them in the village is from 1523 and although spreading out over the county and the country were there until the early 1900s.
Some of the aims of researching the family name
- To tie together some of the Lincolnshire families or prove they are unrelated
- To see if some of the other families can be tied together
- To try and discover when they arrived
The first point is pretty much proved and most of the families can be tied back to Nettleham.
It will
be good to hear from any Allis family members who wish to share,
collaborate, or want to know more about what has been found so far.
